About Adagio

Adagio Retreat is a modern four and half star AAAT rated, well appointed retreat situated on a beachfront property. Adagio has been operating for approximately 10 years.

Adagio Retreat offers great value for money and affordable, spacious and classy accommodation in an idyllic beach and bush setting. The elevated balcony provides stunning 180 degree views of a pristine beach, tranquil setting and plentiful birdlife. Access to a BBQ provides an alternative to eating out and an opportunity to relax with a wine and meal while enjoying the coastal vista from the verandah and perhaps even Kangaroo Island oysters from a nearby oyster farm.

Adagio attracts honeymooners, those that want a romantic getaway, retired couples, experience seekers and international and Australian visitors alike. It is a great base for sight seeing, experiencing local food and wine or simply taking time out to relax. We have a two night minimum booking policy but frankly we recommend a minimum stay of at least four nights. There is a lot to see and do on Kangaroo Island and two days is simply not long enough to do the island or your trip justice! Adagio Retreat and surrounds provides opportunity for encounters with local wildlife. These include Western Grey Kangaroos, Tamar Wallabies, Pelicans, Black Swans and Hooded Plovers. If lucky guests may also witness the endangered Rosenberg Goanna traversing the property or a pod of Dolphins cruising the local waters. There are opportunities to take leisurely coastal and bush walks, swim or even go fishing within very close proximity of Adagio Retreat.

We have vast knowledge of the island and will willingly assist with the development of tour itineraries. Our intimate local knowledge will provide opportunity to discover the spectacular and memorable less visited sights as well as the well known iconic attractions such as Seal Bay, Admirals Arch, Remarkable Rocks and Flinders Chase. Kangaroo Island offers a number of boutique food, wine and art experiences. We will be delighted to help you build these into your itinerary. Branka is also a versatile artist adapt with watercolour, acrylic and mixed media. Her subjects are varied and some of her works can be viewed at Adagio Retreat as well as in local galleries. They include wildlife, seascapes, landscapes and flora.
